The week was celebrated with a series of engaging literary activities, encouraging students to explore the world of books beyond their textbooks.
The programme commenced with a special assembly highlighting the importance of reading and paying tribute to the contributions of P. N. Panicker, the father of the Library Movement in Kerala. Students were inspired with meaningful thoughts and quotations on the value of books and knowledge.
Throughout the week, various activities were organized for different classes. These included:
- Daily silent reading sessions.
- Storytelling for primary students.
- Book review and book talk competitions.
- Reading aloud and recitation activities.
- Vocabulary-building games and language quizzes.
- Bookmark-making and poster-making competitions based on the theme of reading.
- Library visits to encourage students to explore a wide range of books.
- "Drop Everything and Read" sessions, where the entire school devoted time exclusively to reading.
Students enthusiastically participated in all the activities, displaying creativity, confidence, and a genuine interest in reading. Teachers guided and motivated the students by recommending age-appropriate books and sharing inspiring stories from literature.
The Reading Week Challenge successfully strengthened students' reading habits, improved their vocabulary and communication skills, enhanced their imagination, and fostered critical thinking. It also encouraged students to spend more quality time with books and appreciate the joy of reading.
The celebration concluded with the distribution of certificates and appreciation to the winners and active participants.
